Twin Drumming
The idea of Twin Drumming is to use both ends of
the drumstick equally. Since an ordinary stick has only one tip and the
blunt end doesn't sound good, it is not suitable for Twin Drumming.
To solve this problem, the Twinstick with 2 equal tips has
been developed. Using them, it is now possible to play various rudiments
with one hand on two toms, on a cymbal or on a high hat
in which the single strokes sound equally. The Twinsticks make it possible
to play with 4 tips, to that effect the variants are extremely
versatile. Fast fills and real grooves become very easy to
play. Check it out, it's worth it!
Grip Technique
As grip technique, the matched grip is suitable for
both hands.
The stick is held in the middle with thumb and index finger (see
illustration at the bottom left). The strokes are either created by up and
down movement of the wrist, or at higher tempi with assistance of the ring
finger and middle finger.
The Twin Grip represents a new and
excellent grip technique. Taking the matched grip, the wrist is turned
90 degrees inwards. Index finger and middle finger are located under the
stick while the ring finger lies on the stick and the thumb rests on the
side of the stick (see illustration at the bottom right). Bring your
drumming under control "in a jiffy"!
Precise rudiments with Twinstick
By the way:
The Twinstick can naturally be used as an ordinary
drumstick, too. The change from the ordinary way of playing to Twin
Drumming and vice versa is absolutely problem-free.
Concerning the set up of your drum kit, make sure
to place toms and cymbal in such manner that you are able to hit the center
of the drum heads with the tips of the Twinstick, and that you can play on
the high hat and the cymbal with both ends of the stick.
